Tax Preparer - anyone that prepares a tax to including using online or Turbo tax - no qualifications necessary.

Tax Advisor (Consultant) - someone that prepares your taxes and is looking out for you and your family. Did you get everything you deserve? What do the next few years bring? A tax advisor will be asking questions, a tax preparer probably won’t - there are many tax preparers in the area but there only about 10 to 15 good Tax Advisor.

Remember - Tax Preparation is pretty much entering numbers into a computer program and hope it is right! Anyone can do that. Tax Advisors make sure the entries are proper and that there is nothing missing for tax breaks or wrong info was entered and more tax was figured than should have been. As An EA (Enrolled Agent) I can do this.
